DAYGLOW

So Torontonians how awesome is this weather? Last week I was FREEZING and dreading going outside, but today the snow is almost all gone. How awesome!! This seasonally warm weather has me already excitedly thinking about summer festivals. My friends must be thinking of them too because earlier today this was waiting for me in my inbox:

Attached to this video was a long message from my friend beggggging me to road trip down to Philadelphia with her for this insane looking event. Usually when I travel for events they are for multiple artists over a few days, but it is my friends birthday and we have a free place to stay. I've also never had the chance to see Roger Sanchez so this could be my opportunity. What do you think my little bloggies, should I go? Have you seen Roger Sanchez, or heard anything about Dayglow? Would it be worth the trip? HELP!! Check out more about this event @ their website http://dayglowtour.com/

02/12/11 BENNEY BENASSI @ THE GUVERNMENT

Last Saturday the legendary Benny Benassi came to Toronto as part of his Electroman Tour, which is currently touring the country. I can honestly say for the first time in a long time I was absolutely blown away. I have seen Benny a few times, but that was definitely my favourite.

Benny was completely working they crowd, everyone was going NUTS. The set started around 1am, and he spun a solid 3 hour set (for those of you don't know, The Guvernment is one of the only clubs in Toronto legally allowed to stay open past 3am). I was really hoping that there were some guest performances, but they weren't necessary.

I think the thing I liked the most about Saturday's show was variety. Far too many DJs either focus on all their new stuff, or all their old stuff, Benny successfully was able to mesh both sounds into one fantastic show, including this tune, which was a new hear for me:

I had yet to hear the CONGOROCK remix of "Electorman" but this tune drove the club absolutely wild. Other Benny hits I heard throughout the night were classics"Satisfaction" and "I Feel So Fine". He also played "Bromance" by Tim Berg/Avicii, which is one the most played songs currently on my iTunes, so I was a happy camper.

In terms of the venue, Guv always knows how to throw a party, unfortunately this time they had some issues. First of all, they closed the line at 12 (which was when we got there) so many of my friends without tickets didn't get in. Sucks for them, but I guess good for business. Second, Skybar (my favourite summer patio) was open -- IN WINTER. This was an issue because they opened the doors, but they were unprepared. There was only one heat lamp, and no one had thought to shovel so the stairs to go back downstairs were soaking wet and many people were slipping. But other than these things, NO COMPLAINTS!!

So to conclude, Benny was a hit! The club was packed, and the beats were bangin’! Toronto’s next big event is “Family Day” next weekend featuring Dubstep, Victor Calderone, Congorock and Markham’s very own Carlo Lio. I am still undecided if I am attending, but I promise to blog if I do.

ALSO: FOR ANYONE THAT DOESN’T KNOW STEVE ANGELLO IS COMING TO TORONTO ON SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2011. I can’t believe I am almost two blogs in and haven’t mentioned him yet!! If you do not know Steve Angello or Swedish House Mafia I HIGHLY suggest you look them up. Download Steve’s “The Yearbook” and youtube SHM’s “ONE”. Not to worry bloggers, I’ll go into detail on these electo God’s in a later post!!

FIRST BLOG POST!!

Hello fellow bloggers!! There are three things that I need in life: my passport, my sunglasses and my iPod, preferably with some killer headphones. Why you might ask? Well, living in Toronto, I can’t limit my live show experiences to The Guvernment, MOD Club, This is London, or Cobra, but believe me, I’ll be blogging about many shows I see there. I need my passport to travel the world to places like Miami and Ibiza, where many of the top DJs of the world perform. I need my sunglasses to protect my eyes from rays at hot summer festivals such as WEMF, Tomorrowland or Ultra; and to shade my eyes from the strobes in the club (yes, I wear my sunglasses at night). Finally, I need my iPod for all the days I can’t attend the hottest performances and need an electo fix, whether it be on the train headed to class, or getting in the mood for a workout.

Welcome to my blog about electronic music. Follow me through this blog as I explore the world of electro, blogging about past and future events, must listen to releases, and must get to know artists!! Feel free to comment with your own opinions and suggestions, as I am always looking for new tracks to listen to, and events to attend.
